John Joseph Kovach Jr., a 29-year-old man from Akron, OH, tragically died on December 18, 2020. His death was the result of a shooting incident that occurred at a business in the 1000 block of Brown Street in Akron. Kovach was taken to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect in this case, Thomas Unrue, 27, of Akron, was charged with murder. However, Unrue later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter with a firearm specification. The incident took place early in the ...
