Maya Noelle McFetridge, an 18-year-old female student at the University of Akron, tragically lost her life on September 19, 2021, following a shooting at a large gathering near the university's campus. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. near Kling and Wheeler streets, where a large crowd had gathered after an off-campus party. The gathering reportedly grew out of control, attracting groups from outside the original party, leading to a chaotic and violent situation.
