Two other individuals, a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, were also wounded in the shooting. The 25-year-old man was in critical condition, while the 22-year-old man was expected to recover. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed McFetridge's identity the following day.
Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett described the shooting as a result of an altercation that escalated into indiscriminate gunfire. Despite the presence of hundreds of people at the scene, police had not announced any arrests as of the following day. Investigators believe that someone fired shots into the crowd, striking multiple individuals. A handgun was recovered from the scene, but no suspects had been identified at that time.
