Chyna Shepard, a 21-year-old woman from Akron, Ohio, tragically lost her life on July 29, 2022. Shepard, who was African American, was fatally shot during a confrontation at the Oasis Surf and Turf Bar in Akron. The incident began as a fight, which escalated when Gladys Ingersoll, a 24-year-old woman, pursued Shepard into the women's restroom of the bar and shot her at point-blank range.
