Da’Montre Lamarr Mills, a 14-year-old African American boy from Toledo, Ohio, tragically lost his life on December 11, 2021. He was known for his charming, charismatic, and energetic personality, which endeared him to friends and family. Da’Montre enjoyed playing sports, especially football and basketball, as well as video games, drawing, and spending time with loved ones.
On the night of his death, Da’Montre was driving a vehicle that crashed at Arlington Avenue and Bryne Road.
He was found in the driver’s seat, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite being treated at the scene and transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries. The incident was ruled as Toledo's 68th homicide of the year.
Toledo Police investigated the shooting and discovered that the vehicle had been struck several times by gunfire. However, no arrests have been made in connection with Da’Montre’s death. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Crime Stoppers program.
The loss of Da’Montre has deeply affected his family and the community. His father, step-mother, mother, and grandparents, along with many other relatives and friends, are mourning his passing.
