Darius Sikes Jr., a 30-year-old male from Cleveland, OH, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2022. He was found in the doorway of a residence near the 14900 block of Kinsman Road with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen area. The incident occurred early in the morning, and preliminary investigations revealed that a fight had broken out outside an illegal bar, leading to gunfire being exchanged.
Sikes was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the incident, the Cleveland Division of Police launched an investigation to identify the suspects involved. On April 21, 2022, the U.S. Marshals Service, in collaboration with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, arrested Mark James, 31, in connection with Sikes' death. James was taken into custody near the 10200 block of Anderson Avenue in Cleveland. It was alleged that James shot and killed Sikes during the altercation.
