On the day of her death, Cassandra and Zhairon Jerez Shemmar Scales, a 24-year-old man, were
found dead inside a home on the 1300 block of East 26th Avenue in Columbus. The Columbus Division of Police responded to a call about a dead woman and discovered both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. After a thorough investigation, the Franklin County Coroner's Office determined that the incident was a murder-suicide. Scales fatally shot Salters before taking his own life.
