Masonique Saunders, a 20-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot on April 23, 2022, at Saunders Park in Columbus, Ohio. She was one of two women who were shot during a cookout at the park. The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m., when multiple people exchanged gunfire from different locations surrounding the park. Saunders was pronounced dead at the scene, while another woman, who was pregnant, was grazed by a bullet and taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.
