Reinaldo Gomez Taylor, a 33-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically passed away on May 29, 2022, in Dayton, Ohio. Taylor was fatally shot in an "ambush-style" attack in the parking lot of the Gettysburg Plaza shopping center early Sunday morning. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.
The investigation into Taylor's death revealed that Quinn Arthur Mattison, a 27-year-old man from Trotwood, was responsible for the
shooting. Mattison was indicted on three counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons under disability for a prior felony drug conviction. He was arrested on June 30, 2022, and remains held on $1 million bail in the Montgomery County Jail.
The shooting occurred around 3:20 a.m., and police reported hearing around 30 shots in the area. Despite the presence of multiple witnesses and video surveillance, the investigation faced challenges due to a lack of cooperation from the public. However, through diligent detective work and community assistance, Mattison was identified and taken into custody.
The case highlights the importance of community involvement in solving crimes and the devastating impact of gun violence on individuals and their families. Taylor, who was well-known in Dayton as a talented rapper, is remembered by his family, friends, and the community for his contributions to music and his vibrant personality.
