J. Willet Miller, a 34-year-old male police officer from Blowing Rock, North Carolina, died on July 6, 1909. He was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant on a subject for possessing whiskey. Miller had initially gone to the subject's home around 4:00 pm to serve the warrant, but the man wasn't there.
