Adam William Klutz, a 25-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on September 19, 2008, in Oak Hill, North Carolina. Deputy Sheriff Klutz was responding to a 911 hangup call on Fox Winkler Road in Lenoir when he was ambushed. Upon arriving at the scene, a man at the residence opened fire on him with an AR-15 rifle, striking him in the head as he exited his patrol car. Despite being transported to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, Deputy Klutz succumbed to his injuries.
