Shawna Givens, a 35-year-old African American woman, was found dead in her Fayetteville, North Carolina home on April 11, 2012. Givens, a mother of three, was employed as a medical support assistant at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg. Her death was linked to a tragic series of events involving her romantic partner, Dr. Giocondo Navek, a 39-year-old primary care physician on active duty at the base.
