Jermane Darnell Clark, a 22-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on April 29, 2014, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Clark was a student and football player at North Carolina A&T State University, majoring in psychology. He was found with a gunshot wound outside his off-campus apartment on Stedman Street and was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Moses Cone Hospital.
The investigation revealed that Clark's death was related to a drug deal gone
wrong. Two individuals, Kendrick Louis Robinson, 22, and Lemiah Wyatt Sanders Jr., 20, both from Greensboro, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. The suspects allegedly shot Clark and robbed him of $200 and a quarter-pound of marijuana.
In court, Kendrick Louis Robinson was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder. Lenneek Marie Thompson, 21, from Summerfield, also faced charges related to the incident. She pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to robbery with a dangerous weapon and other charges not directly connected to Clark's death. Thompson's plea deal required her to testify against her co-defendants if requested by prosecutors.
Clark's death was a significant loss to the North Carolina A&T community, where he was remembered as a passionate and dedicated student-athlete. His tragic end highlighted the dangers of drug-related activities and the impact of violence on young lives.
