Upon arrival, officers discovered 23-year-old Jayard Khali Amir Little, a resident of Winston-Salem, inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. Despite EMS's life-saving efforts, Little was pronounced dead at the scene.
Little was a teacher assistant in the Exceptional Children's Program at High Point Central High School, where he began working in February 2024. A graduate of Guilford College and Atkins High School, he was known for his athleticism and a smile that could light up his surroundings. His presence had a positive impact on the students he served in the Adapted Curriculum setting.
The Greensboro Police Department launched a homicide investigation, determining that foul play was involved. Homicide detectives and forensic crime scene investigators processed the scene, but as of the latest available information, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
The incident has raised concerns among residents of the nearby Lenox Park Commons neighborhood. One resident recounted how her children, while playing outside, heard a loud gunshot and saw two individuals running away, leading to increased apprehension about neighborhood safety.
In the wake of Little's tragic death, friends and family have remembered him as a bright soul who loved football, his dogs, and working with children. A GoFundMe page titled "Support Jayard's Family in Their Time of Need" was established to assist with funeral expenses, reflecting the community's support during this difficult time.
