On September 28, 2023, Greensboro police responded to a report of a body found in a wooded area near the 1300 block of South Elm-Eugene Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered human remains in an advanced state of decomposition, rendering immediate identification impossible.

The following day, September 29, the Greensboro Behavioral Health Response Team received a missing person's report from the family of 39-year-old Roussou Kason Cheek. Family members indicated that Cheek was last ...
