Rahsaan Malik Williams, a 21-year-old male from Kinston, NC, tragically lost his life on September 12, 2014. Rahsaan was shot in the chest on the 1700 block of George Avenue around 7:12 a.m. He was immediately taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident occurred near the Children's Village Academy, which went on lockdown as a precaution.
The Kinston Department of Public Safety responded to the scene, and a school bus driver who passed by the location
called 911. Investigators spoke with students who were on the bus to gather information about the incident. Rahsaan's aunt, Beverly Williams, described him as a loving individual who deeply cared for his family. Rahsaan also left behind a baby girl who was less than a year old at the time.
Despite the investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Rahsaan's death. The Kinston Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with the case. Sgt. Woody Spencer of the Kinston Police Department acknowledged the community's frustration with the ongoing violence and emphasized the need for patience and cooperation from residents.
The case remains unsolved, and the Kinston Department of Public Safety continues to seek information from the public to bring justice for Rahsaan Malik Williams.
