Montez Jerrel Garner, a 34-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on December 7, 2020, in Kinston, North Carolina. Garner's death was the result of a shooting incident that occurred at 2400 Beechnut Drive. Upon arrival, Lenoir County Sheriff's Deputies found Garner deceased from a gunshot wound. The incident led to the immediate arrest of Clayton Fernando Clark Jr., who was present at the scene.
