Ryechic Harper, 31, a Black male, was shot late in the morning on October 28, 2025, after Kinston police were called to 405 Manning Street around 10:43 a.m. Officers found him with multiple gunshot wounds and, despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene. Early accounts from police indicated the shooting unfolded on the city’s south side and that the victim and the alleged shooter knew one another.
