Naquivs Aqueece Benson, a 29-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on December 4, 2015, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred at a home on China Grove Church Road in south Charlotte. When officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrived at the scene, they found Benson along with two other victims, Jarvis Mandrell Benson, 28, and Javarius Deshawn McGee, 30, all suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
All three men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the triple homicide led to the arrest of two suspects, Antonio Lafloyd Robinson, 34, and Jovon Raymar Twitty, 34. Both men were charged with three counts of murder for their involvement in the shooting deaths of Naquivs Aqueece Benson, Jarvis Mandrell Benson, and Javarius Deshawn McGee. Robinson was apprehended in Lancaster, South Carolina, while Twitty was arrested in Charlotte. The arrests were the result of a combined effort from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, SLED, and VCAT.
In court, Antonio Lafloyd Robinson took a plea deal, pleading guilty to three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery related to the deaths of the three men. Robinson was originally charged with three counts of murder, but the plea deal was offered after the unrelated death of a key witness in the case. As a result, Robinson was sentenced to serve three to six years in prison. The families of the victims expressed their pain and suffering, emphasizing that nothing justified the actions that led to the loss of their loved ones.
