Anthony Lewis Capps, a 26-year-old male from Burlington, NC, tragically passed away on February 16, 2016. According to reports, Anthony was found lying in the roadway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred on Border Street just before 2:30 AM. An investigation determined that an altercation had taken place between Anthony and 47-year-old Barry Lynn Williams, also from Burlington.
During the altercation, Williams shot Anthony with a handgun. Williams was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He surrendered to the police overnight and was transferred to the Alamance County Jail, where he was held under a $1 million secured bond. The investigation into the motive behind the altercation is ongoing.
