Antonio Harris, a 28-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on May 29, 2016, in Greenville, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the Rivercreek neighborhood, near the Beaufort County line. Harris was one of two victims in a double shooting that took place on Linda Drive. The other victim, 20-year-old Nicholas Gorham, was treated and later released from Vidant Medical Center.
Harris, however, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the same medical facility.
The investigation into Harris's death quickly led to the arrest of three suspects: Joseph Gibbs, Justin Whitley, and Lecarlos Anthony. These individuals were charged with an open count of murder and were booked into the Pitt County Detention Center without bond. The weapons used in the murder were recovered by the Sidney Dive Team of Beaufort County near a bridge going into Belhaven. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects involved in a shooting the night before the fatal incident, suggesting a possible connection between the two events.

Family members and residents of the neighborhood expressed their shock and grief over the loss of Harris, who was expecting a daughter at the time of his death.
