Markas Vereen, a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on July 4, 2016, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred early in the morning on Wheatley Avenue. Vereen was in a vehicle that subsequently crashed near the emergency department of Presbyterian Hospital. Despite the efforts of the ER doctors, Vereen was pronounced dead upon arrival.
