Andre Bond, a 19-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on July 10, 2016, in Durham, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Woodview Drive just before 4:15 a.m. Bond was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities indicated that the shooting did not appear to be random, suggesting that the victim and suspects knew each other.
Following the incident, three individuals were charged with Bond's murder.
Uniece Fennell, a 16-year-old African American female, and Joseph Kendell Jr., a 21-year-old African American male, were arrested and charged with murder. Both were apprehended in the 600 block of Green Street. Additionally, Demonte Christopher, an 18-year-old African American male, was also charged with murder but was not immediately in custody. He was later arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, and held in the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder and felony probation violation.
The investigation revealed that the suspects and the victim had known each other, which further supported the theory that the shooting was not a random act of violence. Bond's family held his funeral shortly after his death, and his sister started a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses.
The case drew significant attention in the local community, and authorities urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of Demonte Christopher before his arrest to contact Investigator A. Massie or CrimeStoppers. CrimeStoppers offered cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, ensuring that callers could remain anonymous.
