Deasia Monique Washington, a 23-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on October 9, 2016, in Shelby, North Carolina. Deasia was attending a party at 137 Fox Hill Drive in Kingstown when she was shot and killed. The incident occurred around 2 a.m., and she was found on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound. Despite being transported to Carolinas HealthCare System Cleveland in Shelby, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Deasia Washington was a vibrant individual who
had attended Shelby High School and was involved in various sports and activities during her adolescence. She was employed at Cook-Out Restaurant and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Deasia was the mother of two young boys, Rakereon and Ra'Kaylon.
The investigation into Deasia's death has been challenging for the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office. Despite the presence of approximately 100 people at the party, only a handful of individuals have come forward with information. The Sheriff's Office has offered a $2,000 reward for any information leading to the capture and arrest of those responsible for her death. Sheriff Alan Norman emphasized the need for community cooperation to bring closure to Deasia's family.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the person responsible for Deasia's death remains unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities continue to seek information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has knowledge of what transpired that night.
