Jose Moreno, an 18-year-old resident of Oakland, California, was shot and killed on August 22, 2013. The homicide occurred in East Oakland, a part of the city that has been plagued with gun violence over the years. Moreno was found on the 1500 block of 28th Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
