James Wendell Hood II, aged 39, was tragically shot and killed on December 11, 2018, at a homeless camp located on the 600 block of 23rd Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland, California. Hood, who resided at the camp, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred around 9:21 p.m., and it was reported that Hood had been involved in an argument with another individual shortly before the shooting.
