Tony Lashuan McRae, a 31-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 1, 2017, in Asheboro, North Carolina. Tony was born on May 6, 1985, in Randolph County to Tony Snipes and Lemonda McRae. He attended Asheboro City Schools, where he played basketball and football at Asheboro High School. Tony was known for his keen sense of humor and outgoing personality, and he was very active at the Eastside Boys and Girls Club during his youth.
He cherished spending quality time with his family, especially his children and his mother.
On the fateful day of January 1, 2017, Tony Lashuan McRae and his brother, Quanta Guan McRae, were found shot to death on Shana Lane in Asheboro. The incident occurred early in the morning, and another woman at the scene was also shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Asheboro Police Department responded to the scene and began an investigation into the double homicide.
The investigation led to the identification of two suspects: Rodney Jontae Patterson and Curtis E. Little. Arrest warrants were issued for both individuals on charges of first-degree murder. Rodney Jontae Patterson, a 27-year-old man standing 6'5" and weighing about 160 pounds, turned himself into the police. Curtis E. Little, a 25-year-old man standing 6'2" and weighing about 320 pounds, remained at large and was considered armed and dangerous.
The motive behind the shooting was reported to be an argument that escalated between the McRae brothers and the suspects. The investigation into the case continued, with the police urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the victims and their families.
