Carlis DeWayne Benton, a 38-year-old African American man from Goldsboro, North Carolina, was tragically shot and killed on November 18, 2017. The incident occurred at 605 Second Street, where Benton and another man, Carlos Darden, 42, were fatally shot. A third individual, Joshua Davis, 30, was also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries. Davis was later arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Benton and Darden.
