Jose Juan Melendez Jr., a 31-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed on November 29, 2017, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Melendez Jr., a U.S. Army Specialist stationed at Fort Bragg, was on leave and had traveled to Raleigh to spend time with friends. After a night out at the now-closed Black Flower Bar, he was gunned down outside an apartment complex on Raven Road around 3:20 a.m. as he was walking to his car.
