Cleo Majette Jr., a 26-year-old man from Seven Springs, North Carolina, was tragically found dead on April 22, 2018, in Kinston, NC. He was discovered inside a vehicle parked on the 1600 block of Reed Street around 8:30 a.m. The Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and upon arrival, found Majette Jr. dead from gunshot wounds.
The investigation determined that he had been shot, leading to his untimely death.
Following the discovery, the Kinston Police Department launched a murder investigation. On May 18, 2018, Jamari Davis, a 25-year-old man from Kinston, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Majette Jr.'s death. Davis was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was taken into custody by the Kinston Police Department and the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force at 912 East Bright Street.
