On the afternoon of September 25, 2018, 24-year-old African American male Jihad Yasin Vaughan was fatally shot outside the Eastover Terrace Apartments in Clinton, North Carolina. At approximately 2:38 p.m., officers from the Clinton Police Department, along with Sampson County Sheriff's Deputies and EMS personnel, responded to reports of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Vaughan unresponsive on the ground. Despite immediate CPR efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
