Deante Antoine Jefferies, a 29-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on October 14, 2018, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The incident occurred at a home on Leggett Road, where Jefferies was attempting to protect his cousin's friend, Shenika Shaw, from an estranged boyfriend who had shown up unannounced and combative.
