On December 27, 2018, George Billy William Jones, a 46-year-old male from Lexington, North Carolina, was found dead alongside his wife, Kimberly Wilson Jones, aged 51. The couple was discovered in their mobile home in Thomasville, North Carolina, which had been set on fire. Autopsy results revealed that both George and Kimberly were shot to death before the fire was intentionally set. George Jones was shot multiple times, while Kimberly Jones was shot at least once in the head.
