Jabari Isaiah Rogers, a 17-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on March 3, 2019, in Woodleaf, North Carolina. He was found with a gunshot wound at approximately 1 a.m. in the driveway of a residence on Cone Drive. Despite the efforts of deputies and medical responders, Jabari was pronounced dead at the scene. The Rowan County Sheriff's Office identified Hayden Scott Godair, a 25-year-old male with ties to Rowan and Davie counties, as the suspect in the shooting.
Godair, who has a lengthy criminal history, was apprehended in Robeson County after being found in a stolen vehicle with a stolen pistol. He initially provided a fake name to the deputies. Godair was charged with murder and held without bond. Savannah Dial, a 21-year-old female who was with Godair, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen firearm. The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges possible.
