Jatice Wactor, a 19-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on January 22, 2021, in Woodleaf, North Carolina. The incident occurred after a dispute between Wactor and another teenager, 16-year-old D’andra Scott, also a Black male. The two teenagers met in a driveway on Woodleaf Road with the intention of completing a financial transaction. However, the situation quickly escalated, and the two exchanged gunfire while seated in the backseat of a vehicle.
Both Wactor and Scott were
transported to the hospital by private vehicles. Wactor was initially taken to Novant Medical Center, where he was prepared to be airlifted to another location for further treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the helicopter took off and was immediately returned to the hospital. Scott, on the other hand, was found near the hospital on Grove Street and died before reaching the emergency room.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation into the incident and determined that the two teenagers had shot and killed each other during the altercation. The investigation revealed that the dispute was likely related to the financial transaction they were attempting to complete. The authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
