She was known for her selflessness and kindness, especially towards her students. Moore had recently married her husband, Craig Lee Moore, in March 2018, and they had a daughter together. The Concord Police Department investigated the incident and concluded that the shooting was accidental. The firearm belonged to Moore, and there were no indications of foul play. As a result, no arrests were made, and there were no suspects or litigations related to her death. The community mourned the loss of Madison Moore, and her funeral was held at Central United Methodist Church in Monroe. Memorial contributions were requested to provide school supplies for students at Knollwood Elementary School.
