Jameel Leon Barnes, a 26-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on January 24, 2020, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. along the 2100 block of Nelson Street. Barnes was found with a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to WakeMed hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into Barnes' death led to the arrest of three individuals. Kentezz Demetrius Bailey, a 31-year-old male, was arrested and charged ...
