On August 21, 2024, at approximately 5:56 a.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Carnage Drive in Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old S.T. Vaughn III suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an intensive investigation, authorities identified 43-year-old Tywan Ali Williams as the primary suspect in Vaughn's death.
On September 11, 2024, Williams was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is currently held without bond, awaiting trial.
S.T. Vaughn III was born on June 12, 1985, to parents S.T. Vaughn Jr. and Jacqueline Holt Vaughn. He is survived by his wife, Shakia Lyric Taylor Vaughn, and their two children, Harmoni and Zyion Vaughn. Vaughn was known for his dedication to his family and his active involvement in the community.
Funeral services were held on August 31, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford, North Carolina, with interment following on September 3 at Carolina Biblical Gardens in Garner, North Carolina.
