Russell James Dukes Jr., a 28-year-old African American male, was found dead inside a vehicle on May 28, 2020, in Durham, North Carolina. The Durham Police Department responded to a "shots fired" call at approximately 9:15 p.m. on the 1300 block of Leon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Dukes inside the vehicle, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
