On the evening of March 2, 2025, 48-year-old Hispanic male Ottoniel Lopez-Diaz was fatally shot in Durham, North Carolina. Shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 300 block of East Umstead Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Ottoniel Lopez-Diaz suffering from a gunshot wound and another man who had been struck in the head with a pistol.
