Luis Enrique Chavez-Salgado, a 32-year-old Hispanic male, was found dead inside his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on June 7, 2020. The incident occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m. when officers from the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 212 Meadowview Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered Chavez-Salgado's lifeless body inside the residence.

The investigation quickly identified 40-year-old Lorenzo Edgar Estrada as a suspect in the shooting. Estrada, who fled the scene before police arrived, has been on the run since the incident. Authorities obtained a warrant for Estrada's arrest on charges of discharging a firearm inside a structure in connection with the shooting.

On September 23, 2021, more than a year after the incident, police charged Estrada with the murder of Luis Enrique Chavez-Salgado. The Forsyth County District Attorney, Jim O'Neill, worked in conjunction with detectives to secure the additional warrant for Estrada's arrest. Despite these efforts, Estrada remains at large, and the U.S. Marshals are seeking the public's help in locating him.

The tragic death of Luis Enrique Chavez-Salgado marks the 12th homicide in Winston-Salem for the year 2020. The case remains open, and authorities continue to urge anyone with information about Estrada's whereabouts to come forward.
