Jarvis Cole Tate, a 29-year-old male from Forest City, NC, was pronounced dead at the scene of a fatal shooting on January 21, 2021. The incident occurred on Doggett Road in Forest City, where officers found two males with gunshot wounds in the front yard of a residence. Jarvis Cole Tate was one of the victims, and he was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel upon their arrival. The other male, Douglas Cole Suhy, 25, was found with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity.
Suhy was transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center, treated for his injuries, and released shortly thereafter.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office received a call about a male subject pointing a gun at someone on Doggett Road at 5:35 p.m. on January 21, 2021. When officers arrived, they discovered the two males with gunshot wounds. Authorities have stated that it appears only Suhy and Tate were directly involved in the shooting of one another. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and all leads are currently being pursued by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified beyond the involvement of Douglas Cole Suhy.
