Trevonte Dawaine Parker, a 24-year-old African American male, was found dead in the backyard of a residence on Slater Avenue in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on January 26, 2021. Parker had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The police responded to a shots fired call around 12:13 a.m. and discovered Parker's body upon arrival.
While officers were on the scene, they were alerted to another shooting victim who had arrived at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the
chest. This victim, identified as 20-year-old Cortez Shadique Robinson, also an African American male, died during surgery. The police did not immediately disclose whether the two men had shot each other or if there were other suspects involved.
On February 9, 2021, the police announced that they were looking for Devante Britton-Watson, a 22-year-old male from Spring Lake, who was believed to have information regarding the investigation. The authorities urged anyone with information about the homicide to contact Detective R. Vernon or Crimestoppers.
