Mykiah Anderson, a 24-year-old African American male from Thomasville, NC, tragically lost his life on February 1, 2021. The incident occurred on Hunter Street, where Anderson was found suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the life-saving measures performed by officers, Anderson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The shooting also claimed the life of Torrian Williams, a 23-year-old male from High Point, NC, who was found behind a duplex apartment on the same street.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a third victim, Jaylin McLendon, a 19-year-old male from High Point, NC, was injured in the shooting and was later transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
In connection with the shooting, two individuals were charged. Severen Trique Singleton, a 21-year-old male from High Point, and Jacoreyian Dreshawn McLendon, a 25-year-old male from High Point, were both charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Initially, both received a $15,000 secured bond and were placed in the Davidson County Jail. McLendon has since bonded out, while Singleton's bond was increased to $75,000.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Thomasville Police Department in the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Thomasville Crime Stoppers or the Criminal Investigation Division. Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards for information leading to an arrest.
