Jordan Olajuwon Ramseur, a 34-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on February 14, 2021, in Hickory, North Carolina. Born on June 18, 1986, in Catawba County, he was the son of Caryon Ramseur and the late Sidney Tyrone Ramseur. Jordan was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Catawba and worked as a sander at McCreary Modern. He is survived by his mother, Caryon McCombs Ramseur, his son Jaquavion Abrams, his daughter Jasiyah Ramseur, his brothers Shaun Ramseur and Shawn
Deaton, and his sister Shamada Rankins.
On the night of his death, Jordan Olajuwon Ramseur was attending an event at The Stump Event Center in Hickory. The Catawba County Sheriffs responded to reports of fighting at the venue just before 1 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Jordan with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Jordan's death revealed that he was shot during an altercation at the event center. The authorities have been working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the shooting. As of now, there have been no arrests made, and the case remains under active investigation. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that could assist in solving the case.
Jordan's untimely death has left a void in the lives of his family and friends. His funeral services were held on February 20, 2021, at Living Word Church in Maiden, North Carolina, where he was laid to rest at Maiden Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family continues to seek justice for Jordan and hopes that the ongoing investigation will bring those responsible to justice.
