Davyon Jermaine Farrer, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 24, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM near a gas station on Beatties Ford Road. Multiple 911 calls were made, and upon arrival, officers found Davyon on the ground, bleeding profusely from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency aid being rendered, Davyon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Davyon's death led to the arrest of 36-year-old Dejanarell Markes Cherry on March 26, 2021. Dejanarell was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was located and arrested by detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. After being interviewed by detectives, Dejanarell was transferred to jail custody.
The case also raised questions about security negligence at the gas station where the shooting occurred. Legal experts have suggested that the property owner or management may have lacked adequate security measures to protect visitors, which could have contributed to the incident.
