Trakus Omar Pratt, a 30-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on June 12, 2021, in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was found shot during a targeted home invasion at his residence on Raindrops Road. Despite being rushed to Caromont Regional Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Trakus Pratt's death revealed that the home invasion was not a random act.
Initially, three individuals, including Kenya Partlow, 21, Cameron Durham, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. However, after spending seven months in jail, the charges against them were dropped due to newly discovered evidence.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two other suspects, Elijah Ajani Hill, 19, and Jacquez Tyjuan Morrison, 20, both of Gastonia. They were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. The authorities believe that Hill and Morrison broke into Pratt's home with the intention of robbing him, leading to the fatal shooting.
