Robert Reels, a 35-year-old man from Havelock, NC, tragically lost his life on October 9, 2021, due to a shooting incident outside a nightclub in Havelock. The incident occurred early in the morning when police responded to a disturbance call at the nightclub. Upon arrival, they found two men shot on the street near the nightclub. Robert Reels was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim, Isaiah Oden, 26, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that Devon Clark, 21, and Arthur Lee Jackson, 20, were identified as persons of interest. Both men were seen outside the nightclub in a dark-colored Honda Accord before the shooting occurred. The Havelock Police Department released their names and sought public assistance in locating them. Arthur Lee Jackson was later arrested and held in the Camden County Correctional Center pending extradition back to Craven County.
The shooting incident raised questions about the security measures in place at the nightclub and whether the tragedy could have been prevented. The family of Robert Reels may seek justice and compensation for their loss, and Isaiah Oden may also pursue legal claims for his injuries.
Robert Reels was remembered fondly by his family and friends. He was known for his stylish demeanor and his love for football, particularly the Denver Broncos. He was a Production Operator at GF Linamore and also worked for Adams Tree Services. He is survived by his mother, Lisa Reels, his daughter, Kryah Mianjel Reels, his fiancée, Amy Krantz, and many other relatives and friends.
The case remains under investigation, and the Havelock Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in their efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
