On April 22, 2023, 31-year-old Jemel Donavan Brooks of Havelock, North Carolina, was fatally shot during a domestic dispute at 117 Kenneth Boulevard. The Havelock Police Department responded to a call at approximately 9:25 p.m. and found Brooks deceased upon arrival.
