Cornelius R. Woods, a 49-year-old man from High Point, NC, tragically lost his life on May 27, 2022, due to a gunshot wound to the chest. He was found suffering from the injury on Pendleton Court, and despite efforts by EMS crews to save him, he passed away at the scene. The incident was later classified as a homicide.
Following the incident, U.S. Marshals arrested 28-year-old Nigel D. Pegues of High Point on suspicion of first-degree murder. Pegues was taken into custody without incident
