In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in May 2016, a Detroit man's life was cut short in a burst of violence that has left his family searching for answers for years. Sherod Evans, a Black man in his 30s and a father of two, was shot and killed while sitting in his car on the city's east side. The incident occurred around midnight in the area of McNichols Road and Dequindre Street, a place familiar to Evans as he lived in the family home nearby.
